Catalog & Custom Fields
Requires Pro
With the Flex platform, you model custom object types and custom fields — going beyond the standard assets. This turns Notory from a fixed asset tool into a configurable inventory platform: flexibility as data, not as code.
What are object types and custom fields?
Section titled “What are object types and custom fields?”- An object type is a self-defined class of object — e.g. vehicle,
tool, contract, or SIM card. It consists of a technical key
(e.g.
vehicle) and a label. - Custom fields define what information an object carries — with a
field type (text, number, date, select, relation, …), optional
selection options, and a required field flag. Custom fields can also
be attached to assets (
entity_type = asset), where they extend the asset form. - Records are the actual entries for an object type. Notory validates them against the custom field definitions and tracks history, files, and relations to other records for each record.
Plan note: Object types, custom fields, and records require Pro or
higher (the custom_fields feature) — otherwise the UI shows the message
“Custom fields are available from the Pro plan.”. Categories, SSH
keys, and Check-out / return, on the other hand, are included on all
plans.
